Everyone wants traffic but not everyone knows how to get it. Following the steps I'm about to share with you will not only get traffic, but get returning traffic also. Get social in other blogs or forums in your niche. Bloggers like to share their blog with each other and commenting on other blogs is a good way to do so. This will get you a few visitors and hopefully if you have a good blog it will bring returning visitors. Don't just go out commenting with words like "good job" or "thanks", you have to make the comments thoughtful and personal for people to check out your blog.
Don't put comments on your blog until you know people will comment. Blogs with zero comments look like people don't care much for the website or it gets little views. You don't want that kind of rep. as a blogger. So take off the commenting ability on all of your posts and as soon as you start getting traffic you can add them back on.
Be unique. Don't do what every other blog in your niche is doing. Be yourself and write from your mind, not others. People won't care what blog they go to if they are all the same. So be different and in the end you will be rewarded.
Link Link Link. You should be linking to things that are important in your posts. But over linking is not a good thing to have because people will know that you just want traffic and if you have bad content it's not worth it. Linking to other sites are crucial because it rates you higher in search engines. This topic is called SEO or search engine optimization.
Add yourself to blog carnivals. These are a great way to be noticed by other bloggers in your niche. If your content and articles are written well then you will be rewarded with lots of traffic.
Follow some of these steps when starting out and you will be on your way as long as you execute these.
